# grok-imagine-image Withdrawn: Move to 2.0

> LaoZhang API has withdrawn the earlier Grok Imagine model grok-imagine-image; calls now return 503. Switch to grok-imagine-image-2.0 by changing the model ID.

The withdrawal took effect on October 30, 2026. Migrating is a one-line change to the model ID; endpoints, aspect ratios, and edit requests stay as they are.

## How to migrate

**1. Change the model ID**

Replace `grok-imagine-image` with `grok-imagine-image-2.0` in `model`, keeping the final `.0`.

**2. Add resolution and quality if you need them**

`aspect_ratio` and multi-reference edits (up to 3 images) work as before. 2.0 also takes two optional parameters:

* `resolution`: `1k` or `2k`; 1K when omitted
* `quality`: `low` or `medium`

**3. Check the cost**

## FAQ

### Why was it withdrawn?

`grok-imagine-image` is the previous generation of Grok Imagine, and xAI recommends `grok-imagine-image-2.0` for new work. LaoZhang API no longer offers the earlier model separately.

### Am I charged for calls after the withdrawal?

No. The request returns 503 before it reaches any route, so nothing is charged.

### Is `grok-imagine-image-quality` withdrawn too?

No, it still works. xAI plans to retire it on November 2, 2026, so move it to `grok-imagine-image-2.0` at the same time and set `quality` explicitly.
