Change the model ID

Replace grok-imagine-image with grok-imagine-image-2.0 in model, keeping the final .0.

Add resolution and quality if you need them

aspect_ratio and multi-reference edits (up to 3 images) work as before. 2.0 also takes two optional parameters:
  • resolution: 1k or 2k; 1K when omitted
  • quality: low or medium

Check the cost

2.0 costs $0.055 per image, compared with $0.025 for the withdrawn model. For cost-sensitive batch work, compare other models in the image generation overview.

Why was it withdrawn?

grok-imagine-image is the previous generation of Grok Imagine, and xAI recommends grok-imagine-image-2.0 for new work. LaoZhang API no longer offers the earlier model separately.

Am I charged for calls after the withdrawal?

No. The request returns 503 before it reaches any route, so nothing is charged.

Is grok-imagine-image-quality withdrawn too?

No, it still works. xAI plans to retire it on November 2, 2026, so move it to grok-imagine-image-2.0 at the same time and set quality explicitly.
