How to switch

Create the token

In Token management, create a token, choose the Claude Code group and the Usage first billing mode, then copy the key. You can also edit an existing token and change its group to Claude Code.

Put it into Claude Code

Replace ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN in ~/.claude/settings.json with the new key and keep ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL as https://api.laozhang.ai. The full configuration is in Use Claude Code with LaoZhang API.

Send a test request

Run claude -p "Reply with exactly one word: connected". It should print connected. The usage logs show the group and charge for every request.

Who is affected

  • Claude Code and other Claude-protocol users: we recommend moving to a Claude Code token; the integration guides now use this group.
  • Existing Claude Code token holders: nothing to change, and DeepSeek now works with these tokens too.
  • OpenAI-compatible users (Chat Completions, Responses): keep using default; nothing changes.

Why does a Claude Code token return 503 for GPT or Gemini?

The group only contains Claude-protocol models. Calling GPT, Gemini, Qwen, MiniMax, or an image or video model returns Current group claude_code has no available channels for model …. Use a default token and the OpenAI-compatible format for those models.

Can I use a Claude Code token with Chat Completions?

We don’t recommend it. The group is meant for the Claude protocol, and Chat Completions requests sent with it may not handle tool calls correctly. Use a default token for Chat Completions.

Does the Claude Code group cost more than default?

No. Both groups have the same prices, billed per token at each model’s rate; see the model catalog.

I already use a default token in Claude Code. Do I have to switch?

We recommend it. Create a Claude Code token, or change the group of your current token to Claude Code in Token management, then put the key back into your Claude Code settings.
